The twins stayed in the house for a day while they gained strength. Once we thought they were strong enough we took them to the barn so they could spend time with their mom, not long at first, but slowly built up to staying with mom all day.
We started putting them on mom to nurse, she accepted them just fine. Then we watched them carefully and still brought them back inside to spend the first few nights in the warm family room by the fire. They stopped taking the bottles from us so we knew they were getting enough food from mom.
Even though the little girl was eating from mom, she was weaker than her brother and so tiny, she almost seemed premature.
Six o'clock this morning Hannah went out to feed a triplet that was born from another mom, and found the little twin girl dead on the cement in the barn. Some how she got out of her pen and froze.
Hannah had gone out to the barn a few minutes before I had come out of my bedroom. When I did come down the hall, I found her holding the dead little goat in the sink trying to warm her up. She figured she was dead, but it always makes you feel better, when you do everything you can to save the little buggers.
In the post, "Another Set of Twins" She is the top goat in the picture, she was so tiny and sweet.
Her brother is strong and doing well.
