"Church members can begin their home storage by storing the basic foods that would be required to keep them alive if they did not have anything else to eat. When members have stored enough of these essentials to meet the needs of their family, for one year, they may decide to add other items that they are accustomed to using day to day"

***One Month Basic Food Storage Kit can be assembled and purchased at your local cannery and home storage center. Designed to meet the needs of individuals just starting on food storage program. Fits in two boxes.
(I don't know if they still do pouches...since I called the cannery three times this morning, I don't have the heart to call them again :) so if you want to know about pouches you will need to call them yourself.)

Also, if you have small children Steve and I always counted them as adults, the years go by so fast, you blink and they are big teenagers eating enough food for an army.
Remember, the Basic Kit above is only to keep one person alive for a month, not comfortably full!! It is the bare minimum you should have per person, per month.
