Next Tuesday I will be speaking in Cammie's ward on the subject of provident living. I have been asked to talk specifically about, basic food storage and financial planning.
In an effort to keep it simple, and not reinvent the wheel, I started looking for resources.
I came across the "All is Safely Gathered In" pamphlet on lds.org.
If every family learned how to make the recipes in this church publicized pamphlet. And stored the food that is required to make said recipes, families in crisis would not starve.
It is a simple beginning point!
Set a goal to prepare one recipe a week, or one a month if need be.
In order to learn, we must DO!
Is your family going to love each one of these recipes, not likely.
But Steve is always telling people, "The difference between what a person will eat and what a person won't eat is three days."
