Friday we managed to actually make it to the arena. Well, at least Linda, Hannah and I did. It was Luke's last day of his math class, he was rushing to get everything completed, so he chose to stay home.
Our big "pooches", as I like to call them, haven't been ridden for many months. I can count on Kodac being fresh after long gaps in rides, but even Rusty was kicking up his heels when we first arrived.
After a few minutes of me reminding Rusty that he isn't just an expensive pasture pet, Hannah got on him and had fun. He is an amazingly gentle and patient horse, although he is starting to be kind of pushy sometimes.

Look at that blond hair! All my kids were born with brown or black hair, then it turned blond, and later went dark again. Hannah is the first to stay blond and I love it.

Trigger thought the ladders were pretty scary. Linda decided to sit on them and let him figure out for himself that they weren't going to hurt him. Looks like it worked.

Kodac acted like he had lost all confidence after rotting in the pasture for so long. He was spooking at his own shadow, I swear, even buckets were cougars in disguise! But it wasn't long before he remembered the drill and began to show me some attitude.
Willy would always tell me, " Dawn, when Kodac acts like that you need to match his energy." That's what I did, him and I ran and romped around the arena until I was out of breath and ready to drop, which didn't take a real long time since I was already shaky and fatigued from my two hour interval training session with my BW fitness coach, Cris.
The last time Kodac found me on the ground, was when we were at Beaver Dick Park. He was cantering and I was having a good old time, but then he shucked and I jived. The next thing him and I knew, I was laying on my back in the dirt, and he was standing over me probably wondering, "What you doing down there? Thought we were having fun!"
