It was a good day for a ride, perfect temperature, no wind. The drive took a little longer than usual though, the road was real washboardy.
Once we got there the mosquitoes almost packed us away until we sprayed both horse and human thoroughly with bug spray.
Then everyone saddled up and hit the trail.
Everything went smoothly until we got to the falls where we ate lunch.
I was throwing my leg over my horse to get off, when I glanced behind me and saw Trish falling off of Bullet. I couldn't believe my eyes. She landed flat on her back and then her head snapped back and hit the ground. I'm so glad she had a helmet on!
I quickly tied Kodac up so I could help Trish, she had the wind knocked out of her, and had hit the ground pretty hard. I guess her horse spooked when she was getting off of him and she couldn't decide whether to continue getting off or to get back on him and ride it out. The decision was made for her...off she went.
She didn't appear to have broken anything so we cleaned up a cut on her arm and then had her take some Motrin to help with the soreness and pain that would be setting in soon.
She managed to ride out ok, but was ready to be done with the ride well before we made it back to the trailers, poor thing.
Trish's fall aside, it was a really nice ride.
