At the end they are the couple spinning in the middle as the team exits the floor. Their team took first place!
Grant and Emma are in the back left corner, but then they move around a bunch! Towards the end of the song they are the couple directly in front.

Grant and Hannah went to Utah to compete in the Utah Classic dance competition this weekend. (I wasn't able to go and watch them, but we are trying to find others who videoed the dances.) Princess performed twice. The first was a Tango where she danced to the James Bond theme song with Coldon Ockler and the other was a Cha Cha to the song "I'm Crazy" with Roan Scholes. They didn't place but enjoyed themselves. Below is Grant and Valerie Smith's first performance of their Cabaret number. They did a great job and got third place. Valerie is a little embarrassed that her spanks show quite a bit, (not a big deal in the dance world) and says she is going to pin her dress down next time. The first dress she bought for the number was so slippery that Grant couldn't hold onto her and since there are so many lifts they decided to find another dress. I think they look awesome! Grant also danced on the Silver lift team. His partner for that team is Emma Simkins. Their team got first place! I'll post that dance as soon as we get our hands on it. I can't wait to see it.
AND he danced on the Gold team to the Pirates of the Caribbean song with Meredith RueBush as his partner. They got second place in that one! Zac Walker, Andrew Ingram and Luke loaded up their bikes and headed to American Falls to ride. Luke had a blast, but he did have a bit of a mishap!
A moose visited our neighborhood this week.
The McCurdy kids have named him Murray, since he spends most of his time hanging out at their place. But he graces us with his presence occasionally, as he drops in to eat our trees and poop in our yard. You know that saying of Benjamin Franklin's, "guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days." In Murray's case I must confess it is truth. Poor Stephanie can't even let her kids outside to play because Murray loves being in her yard. Two deputies came over the first of the week and tried to drive him off. At first one of them tried yelling and tossing rocks and sticks at Murray. That didn't work, Murray only turned to face the deputy. The deputy decided that wasn't the wisest of things to do. Then they used one of those gun things that shoot fire crackers into the air. They shot them above his head repeatedly. All he did was walk closer to us and lay down. Finally they bothered him enough that he jumped the back fence, only to be gone long enough for the deputies to leave. Later in the week a fish and game guy came and didn't have any better luck. Murray only ran circles around the McCurdy house with the fish and game guy following. Murray wasn't about to leave his posh accommodations. Eventually Murray wondered down the street into Julie's yard. She let Lexie out and that little black lab drove Murray off. Who would have guessed. Our weenie of a dog wouldn't go near the moose. Murray headed to the grade school. I'm not sure how that worked out for him, but it wasn't to long and he was back to his happy place, the McCurdy yard. Koda looks like a dork with his new buzz cut but Princess is as adorable as ever!
It's a little early in the season to get Koda a field cut, but we couldn't stand the hair in the house anymore. Plus, no one likes to pet him when he has his spring shag on. So it was off to the groomers. (The quality of the pictures my phone is taking keeps getting worse and worse.) I was sitting next to Grant at the dinning room table. When I looked at him I started to giggle. His hair was out of control.
Usually there are babies being born all throughout spring here on the Juanabia Ranch. We rotate the moms and babies in then out of the barn. The oldest ones get booted out of the barn to make room for the new arrivals.
This year Christian is the only baby on the farm. Unusual for around here, and he has spent way too much time in the barn. Why do I say that? When Grant finally moved him and his mom to one of the outdoor pens the little guy had a hard time adjusting. He was really freaked out. Grant called him a pansy. Hannah and I went out to check on him the other day. He is all settled in and doing great. We had two setbacks in the last ten days. We had to send back my lap top for a second time! Tristin asked for a refund this time and purchased me a completely different lap top. It took a while for the refund to come through and then for the new one to get to me...or Tristin. He is the computer guru. He is such a sweetie. He has set up each new laptop for me, downloaded all the programs I need for school and taught me how to use it. I don't know what I would do without him! Hannah uses the PC and Luke and I use the old lap top. I like to call it the "Dinosaur". We were getting by with only two computers. Several years back I bought the Dinosaur from the BYU-I surplus store for $50. It is as heavy as a brick and no longer holds a charge. You always have to be plugged in when using it. Thank goodness we kept it though. With three of us doing online schooling things can get pretty tense if there isn't a computer available for those who have assignments due. To add insult to injury, our internet went down AGAIN! It is always going down. Every time this happens I have to spend an hour on the phone with someone who doesn't speak English, while they proceed to have me test one thing after another. Finally we get to the part where they say they will send a tech out to my house, in a few days! We were doing school work at McDonalds and the public library until they came. When the tech finally came, he tromps through my house for twenty minutes, only to reset it down the road. Same thing EVERY time. We have been stuck using Century Link because we live in a bowl where no other company can get us internet service. The cable company won't come down our road because there are only a handful of us down it. Not cost effective. Century Link only gives us 1.5 Mbps. Yes, I know that is pretty sad. Just so happens a week ago our neighbors were at the end of their rope in regards to Century Link and somehow managed to find a provider that could get them internet. I found this out only because I called to ask if Hannah could go over there and do school work one day. Their new provider is called Speed Connect. I'm not sure how he found Speed Connect. I thought I had exhausted all possibilities a few months ago (the last time we lost the internet signal), but I'm grateful he did. Speed Connect installed their equipment on Friday. Now I get to cancel Century Link! But I already payed for the next months service so I think I will keep it as a safety net just in case this new company doesn't work out. Now we get 8 Mbps. Don't scoff you cable users. For us this is fast. Now it only buffers a few times in the evening if Netflix is being used and more than one person can be on the internet at a time. It's a whole new world. Although Monday morning we woke up to no internet again. Turns out the Speed Connects tower had a glitch and when it did my router didn't re-hook up with them. Easy fix. So far so good. On to more pleasant things. Madison Valentine DanceHaeLee Muir asked Grant to the Valentines Dance. What an adorable couple! The crazy girl said she couldn't drive in heels and picked Grant up with no shoes on. She walked through the snow to come to the door! Luke is Feeling SickThe Not-So Princess BedroomThe other day I took some folded clothes into Hannah's room.
I almost broke my ankle and darn near fell down. She tells me it will get cleaned up while she is on spring break this week. Looks like she is hard at work. I love the icicle hanging from the eves this time of year.
If you look in the back ground you can see the backhoe. Luke is in it moving snow, so he can bring in another big bale of hay. |
