Poor Rusty didn't do well with the sedation. The vet tech gave him the injection and within seconds he was swaying in the stocks. They got his head strung up with the clamp in his mouth and shortly after he dropped to his knees. The clamp ripped out of his mouth and he hung by his neck. I was not a happy camper! He struggled horribly as he tried to get back on his feet, he finally made it. After the unfortunate mishap the vet turned to me (it was not Waddoups) and said a horse falling in the stocks doesn't happen...hardly ever. Of course "hardly ever" tends to happen on my watch. Once the vet got busy grinding Rusty's teeth down, Linda turned to me and asked if I was ok. I was NOT OK. I must of looked pretty ticked. I knew a minute after they sedated Rusty that he was going down. It blows my mind that they didn't see it.
Rusty hung there with his tongue out all through Bo's teeth floating and sheath cleaning. I decided to have the vet clean Rusty's sheath since he wasn't coming out of the sedation any time soon.
We made it out of there without any other problems, but I was on edge for the duration of the visit. Linda on the other hand is a nurse, whe took it all in stride.
