Years ago, before Steve's mom passed away, she gave us a set of stoneware. I have always been afraid to use it, for fear of breaking it. Then a few days ago I happened across an estate sale on Craigslist and saw that they were selling a set of dishes identical to the ones Arlyce gave us. I jumped on the opportunity to buy them. Now we have a HUGE set of this nice stoneware, if a piece accidently gets broken now, it won't be a big deal.

Luke was nervous about his seminary graduation. Not because the graduation itself stressed him out, but because it is one more step closer to being a grown up. He doesn't want to grow up. I don't blame him a bit...but becoming an adult is happening whether he likes it or not. Poor kid! If only we could stay young and carefree forever.
I don't know if you noticed a theme to the pictures above. The theme seems to be "Cammie needed attention" even though it was Luke's day. We kept taking pictures thinking she would settle down but it only got worse. You can tell Luke was getting irritated. Its a good thing Tristin is a patient, gentle man. Because he has his hands full with that one. Thanks Tristin for being so good to her! Hannah's fourteenth birthday party started out with the girls getting manicures at Evans, then we soothed the hungry beasts by feeding them pizza, cake and ice cream, followed by the unwrapping of gifts. Steve and I had to skaddle to the Boat Club dinner, heaven forbid we only have one commitment a night. Cammie and Tristin agreed to take over the party while we were gone, which continued with pomegranate facials and decorating flip flops with fabric. Thanks Tristin and Cammie! When Steve and I got home the girls were playing games and watching Netflicks while consuming popcorn and chips.
I'm still can't believe my baby is fourteen! I finally had time to fill and organize my new armoire! It did take me a few days though. I haven't cooked with grains for a long time. Turns out I have more grains than I thought, which means I had to find two more rubbermaid containers and since I bought all that the Rexburg and Idaho Falls Walmart had, I was on the hunt for a new source. Thank goodness Hannah dropped and broke five dozen eggs (yes all at once), which sent her and I to Albertsons to replenish our depleted egg stock. While we were in Albies we happened to walk past their houseware isle and lo and behold there were the rubbermaid containers I needed, and they were even on sale!
NI should have taken a before picture of my buffet drawer. It was packed full of partial bags of different foods ranging from ABC noodles to three different kinds of Jello. Not to mention an array of Kool Aid packets, seasonings, measuring cups and a wide variety of unrelated odds and ends.
Took Grant in to see the orthopedic surgeon for a follow up on his legg perthes disease. Doc said one leg is a bit shorter than the other leg, but the difference shouldn't cause him any problems. The only down side to his condition now is that he may develop arthritis in the hip when he gets older and he discouraged Grant from becoming a marathon runner. Doc said it would put stress on the hip.
Doc gave him a clean bill of health and told him to continue being an active boy. Last year when my parents were visiting, Dad told me there was a swarm of ants outside my garage. I came out to look at them and they were gone.
Now, a year later Mom and Dad are visiting again and look at this, they are back. Dad came in and told me to come quick so he could show me the ants. He was afraid they would disappear again. I pulled out all the stops, decided to put two kinds of ant bait out. I'm not sure if they are eating the bait...its kinda strange. Hannah does most of her school work on her own, but there are things like spelling creative writing and dictation (among other things) that we do together.
Today Cammie was home and decided she wanted to write with Hannah while I dictated. I looked up after dictating to them and this is what I saw. It was one of those "Mom" moments that I cherish. Mothers Day was a good day. I was surrounded by family and thanks to Papa Murphy's Pizza and Little Debbie Bars I didn't have to cook a thing, best day ever!
Tristin, Cammie and I made three pans of Cammies favorite sweet and sour chicken, it is sooo good! Cammie dug up worms for the baby chicks. You will notice there are only three babies out. The tiny one snatched all the worms from the first dig and had to be put in time out during the second dig. We didn't want it to over indulge. I think I am a pretty good mom, letting chicks run around in my kitchen.
